As described by Jean-Martin Deslauriers in his research [1] on Separated Fathers inc. in 2012 - 2013, "the father who must adapt to a marital breakdown situation faces many challenges" because "the situation of fathers who do not have access to their child or have a restricted access to this one is underestimated and misunderstood. Furthermore the phenomenon is little studied and public services that can help these fathers are extremely rare. "
